James P. “Jimmy” Houchin, age 76 of Cave City, peacefully departed this life at his home on Sunday, September 10, 2023.  The Edmonson County native was born on October 6, 1946 to the late Rev. James Albert and Christine Graham Houchin.  He was married to his wife of thirty-five years, Roberta Houchin, who survives.

Jimmy had worked in years past at R.C. Cola and owned and operated Farmhouse and Hillside Restaurants in Cave City and Bowling Green.  He was also a valued staff member at Patton Funeral Home, where he dedicated over fifty years to serving others.  Jimmy was saved as an adult at Fairview United Baptist Church, and he remained a member there until his passing. When he wasn't working, he found his greatest pleasures in poking fun at others, fishing with his family and watching U.K. basketball.

Besides his wife, Roberta, he leaves to honor his memory-- his children, Teresa Lowe of Bowling Green, Jonathan Houchin (Amy) of Smiths Grove and Jay Houchin (Lillian) of Glasgow; stepson, Darrell Key of Arizona; ten grandchildren, Kendra Troyer (Ephraim), Sarah Lowe, Savannah Bourgeois (Mitchell), Matthew Key, Jade Lee (Peter), Tori Cherry, Maddison Houchin, Denver Houchin, Cam Key and Adeline Houchin; six great-grandchildren, Chase Troyer, Lincoln Rast, Zachary Troyer, Lucas Troyer, Bellamy Brantley and Everly Houchin; siblings, Farron Houchin (Rebecca) of Whitehouse, TN, Donna Lightfoot of Chalybeate, Ramona Sue McDonough (Russell) of Georgia and Sherian Parsley (Randy) of Brownsville, along with a host of friends, nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Jason Key.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to:  Hosparus Health of Barren River-Glasgow, 1320 N. Race St, Glasgow, KY 42141.
