Pearl (Hogan) Cherry, 85, was born in Edmonson, Kentucky on October 12, 1936 and entered Heaven's gates on December 18, 2021. She was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church in Sweeden, Kentucky.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandma and great-nana. Pearl retired from Floyd Memorial Hospital after over 17 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed making quilts, searching yard sales or thrift stores for that perfect buy, Kentucky basketball and above all else, spending time with her family and friends. Pearl's entire world revolved around her great-grandchildren. Her smile would light up a room when she saw one of her precious angels. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Cherry; parents, Johnnie and Corda Hogan; brothers, James, Leonard, Elmer, Otha, Oliver Hogan; and sisters, Oren Sowders and Oma White. Pearl is survived by her children, Ronnie Cherry (Liz) of Charlestown, Indiana, Johnie Cherry (Sheri), Donnie Cherry (Carla), Kim Schmidt (Tom), Anita Philpot (Terry), all of Greenville, Indiana; brothers, Roma Hogan (Shirley) of Louisville, Kentucky, Roy Hogan of Roundhill, Kentucky; sisters, Jane Frost (Bill) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jean Lindsey (Stanley) of Taylorsville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions(3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville.
