Rev. Gerald Jerry Offutt, a son of the late Nathaniel Offutt and Catherine Davidson Offutt, was born, February 11, 1940, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Gerald was a 1958, graduate of High Street High School and was awarded a college basketball scholarship. He served in the United States Army and received the Sharpshooter Badge. Rev. Offutt was formerly employed by Holley, First Baptist Church, First Christian Church and Pittsburg Paint Store. Rev. Offutt was honored for serving as Pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for over 25 years by the Union District Association, but his dedication and commitment allowed him to serve as their shepherd for 44 years. Rev. Offutt loved to read his bible, he was a handyman and painter, an avid sports fan, especially Louisville Cardinals and Tennessee Titans and he was an awesome chef. Rev. Offutt was truly a man of God, doing a work for the Lord by preaching, teaching, and singing praises to his heavenly Father. Some of his favorite songs were I Am Redeemed, Use Me Lord, Because He Lives, and I Can Only Imagine. A true testament of who he was as he joined his Father on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 27 days. The memories of Rev. Gerald Jerry Offutt will be cherished by his daughters, Janet Offutt, Tonita Offutt Curry, and Felicia Offutt-Noel; grandchildren; very special friend, Denise Winston; godsons, Lonnie Edward (Sheteka) Winston, Chadwick Elmore (Tiffany) Winston; god-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kadyn, Eli, Carter, Nolan; Cedar Grove Church family, a host of other relatives and friends.
