Edmonson Voice Staff Brownsville City Police responded to a complaint around 11:30pm on Sunday night of a male subject jumping out at vehicles and yelling profanities near the Minit Mart. Police soon located a man matching the description from the complaint in a field near the Minit Mart, but according to reports, as the officer tried to approach the man, the subject fled on foot. Another officer was in the area and located the subject near the Cee Bee food store. A brief foot pursuit occurred as the subject attempted to hide from officers but was quickly subdued by officials without any further incident. Once in custody, police said the subject smelled strongly of alcohol and was found to be heavily intoxicated. Dustin T. Gipson, 19, Brownsville, was arrested and charged with Alcohol intoxication in a public place 1st and 2nd offense, and fleeing and evading 2nd degree on foot.
Gipson was transported and lodged in the Hart County Jail. The investigation was led by Officer Garth Avery and was assisted by District 2 Constable Tim Skees.
