"Gracie is an amazing young lady," said Chamber Spokesperson Rhonda Clemmons. "While many may find various multi-media applications intimidating, it's amazing to see our our younger generation accept it as a daily norm. Gracie will also share her thoughts about multi-media and business," she said. The Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce Spring Breakfast will be at the Edmonson County Library on Ferguson St. at 7 am on Tues. March 24. Everyone is welcome everyone to attend. Clemmons also said, "If you're not a member of our Chamber, we welcome you to visit with us for breakfast and to find out more about what we do." A Sweeden woman was injured after she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed Tuesday night, February 24th. Sandy Wilson, 57, was traveling east on Sunfish/Bee Spring Road (KY 238) when her 2003 Chevy Trailblazer left the right shoulder of the road, traveled approximately 75 feet, went through a fence line and hit a tree, head-on. The Edmonson County Sheriff's Office said Mrs. Wilson suffered a broken right leg, just above the ankle. She was treated at the scene and transported to the Kyrock Elementary School parking lot by Edmonson County EMS, where she was then air-lifted to the University of Louisville Hospital by the Air-Evac Lifeteam. It's standard procedure for victims to be air-lifted in the event of potential life or limb-threatening injuries. Kyrock VFD also assisted at the scene. Mrs. Wilson has since had one surgery and was in the middle of another when we contacted her husband, David Wilson. He said that the first surgery was a success and doctors are looking for the same result for the second. He also added that she is expected to make a full recovery. "We're really blessed she wasn't hurt any worse than she was," he said. "We just thank the Lord for all of our praying friends. We don't know where we'd be without them. I hope someday we'll find a way to pay them all back."
Edmonson Voice Staff Police say that black ice was the cause of rollover crash this morning on Highway 70. According to Deputy Wally Ritter, Steve VanMeter, 53, of Campbellsville was headed east when he hit the patch of ice and lost control of his 2006 Dodge Ram pickup. Ritter said that the truck swerved through both lanes, flipped on it's top, rotated 180 degrees, then came to rest on it's side facing the opposite direction. VanMeter was transported to the Medical Center at Bowling Green by Edmonson County EMS for non-life threatening injuries. Also assisting at the scene were the Bear Creek, Chalybeate, and Wingfield Fire Departments, and Edmonson County Jaws of Life.
Sheriff Shane Doyle said black ice is a very serious and dangerous concern. "Most drivers simply see it as a patch of wet roadway, but this time of year when temperatures are consistently below freezing, that wet spot can become solid ice. We urge drivers to use extreme caution early in the mornings." Darren Doyle Story and photos An Edmonson County Grand Jury returned the following indictments on February 26, 2015.
