![]() A Sweeden woman was injured after she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed Tuesday night, February 24th. Sandy Wilson, 57, was traveling east on Sunfish/Bee Spring Road (KY 238) when her 2003 Chevy Trailblazer left the right shoulder of the road, traveled approximately 75 feet, went through a fence line and hit a tree, head-on. The Edmonson County Sheriff's Office said Mrs. Wilson suffered a broken right leg, just above the ankle. She was treated at the scene and transported to the Kyrock Elementary School parking lot by Edmonson County EMS, where she was then air-lifted to the University of Louisville Hospital by the Air-Evac Lifeteam. It's standard procedure for victims to be air-lifted in the event of potential life or limb-threatening injuries. Kyrock VFD also assisted at the scene. Mrs. Wilson has since had one surgery and was in the middle of another when we contacted her husband, David Wilson. He said that the first surgery was a success and doctors are looking for the same result for the second. He also added that she is expected to make a full recovery. "We're really blessed she wasn't hurt any worse than she was," he said. "We just thank the Lord for all of our praying friends. We don't know where we'd be without them. I hope someday we'll find a way to pay them all back."

Thank you to the gentleman who stopped to assist and to the fine work of emergency responders who took over until Air Evac got there. So thankful that God spared the life of our beautiful friend, Sandy. Comments are closed.
