![]() In a matter of only a few hours early Sunday morning, the Edmonson County Sheriff's Department worked three different accidents due to unexpected "Black Ice." The first was reported on Morgantown Road (Highway 70) just before daylight in the curve by Hopewell Church. Then around 7 am, the second accident occurred by the rock quarry on Nolin Dam Road. The third accident happened around 8 am on Morgantown Road, approximately only a quarter mile from the first collision. The Sheriff's Department reminds everyone to drive with caution anytime there has been precipitation and the temperature is near freezing. Black ice is very unpredictable and virtually invisible. "Please allow yourself more time to arrive at your destination in the winter season," said Sheriff Shane Doyle. "By adding a few minutes to your schedule and slowing down a few mph, you can greatly decrease your chances of an accident." Edmonson Voice Staff
