On March 28th 2015 at around 3:15 a.m. Brownsville Police Department Officer Garth Avery observed a silver Ford Mustang traveling northbound while swerving in the road on Hwy 259 just south of Brownsville city limits. Officer Avery then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. After further investigation, Officer Avery administered a number of field sobriety tests to the driver of the vehicle, Cory Ashley, 25, Bee Spring, which were failed.
Ashley was arrested and charged with careless driving and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs with a blood-alcohol level at .08 or above, 2nd offense. Ashley was transported and lodged in the Hart County Jail. Officer Avery was assisted in the investigation by District 2 Constable Tim Skees.
