Darren Doyle, story: With more than 30 years of service to veterans and the Edmonson County Community, Jack Hasty has retired as commander of local chapter 32 of the Wand B. Doyle Disabled American Veterans and was honored at the recent DAV meeting. Hasty served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam veteran. Additionally, Jack has served as service officer for both the VFW and DAV, assisting veterans with disability claims and served as Chapter 32 DAV Commander since 2019. Hasty also served 19 years as Commander of VFW Chapter 6937. Edmonson County Judge Executive Wil Cannon presented Mr. Hasty with a proclamation recognizing June 2, 2022 as Commander Jack Hasty Day. Hasty was also sworn in at the state level for DAV District 2 at the Kentucky DAV convention on June 26, 2022. Despite his local retirement, he will continue as a lifetime member and supporter of DAV Chapter 32.
A special cake was designed for Hasty at his retirement but it was frozen because Commander Hasty said it was too pretty to cut. "Chapter 32 is extremely proud of Commander Hasty for his many years of service, leadership, and dedication, said Auxiliary Adjutant Penny Saltsman. "The Chapter is looking forward to working with its new Commander, Michael Stoyonovich."
