Darren Doyle, story:
On Thursday, May 30th, Warren East High School announced Sweeden resident and ECHS graduate Jonathan Williams as the new principal of Warren East High School during a site based decision-making council meeting (SBDM).

A 2001 graduate of Edmonson County, Mr. Williams currently serves as the principal of H.W. Wilkey Elementary School in Grayson County. Prior to his role as H.W. Wilkey Principal,  he was a special education teacher at North Warren Elementary School from 2009-2011. Throughout his tenure in education, Mr. Williams has served the students of Hardin County, Edmonson County, and Glasgow Independent School District. He's also served as an interventionist and assistant principal.

"I’m very humbled and excited about having the opportunity to lead Warren East High School," Williams said in an interview with the Edmonson Voice.  "It’s a blue collar community with a lot of pride, energy and talented people.  The facilities and  grounds are the best I’ve ever seen at a high school, and the opportunities for students at the high school level in Warren County are unbelievable.  I’m excited to be a part of it."

In a statement released from Warren County Schools, Superintendent Rob Clayton was quoted as saying, “We were fortunate to have some strong applicants interested in the Warren East High School principal position and Mr. Jonathan Williams’ experience as a successful building level leader truly stood out to the committee. Mr. Williams has demonstrated the ability to transform a culture through high expectations for accountability and his enthusiasm for this opportunity resonated throughout the interview process." he added.   "This is an exciting time for the entire WEHS school community and we look forward to what lies ahead under Mr. Williams leadership.”

Williams also said he's received plenty of love and support from his family.

"My wife Whitney, daughters, Cariann (11), Catherine (4), Chloe (2) and my son Camden (8) ,have been extremely supportive of me always and also are very excited about us joining the Warren East family.  We will miss our Wilkey family."

Williams graduated from WKU with a bachelors in 2007,  completed his masters in special education in 2010, and a rank one in educational leadership from University of the Cumberlands in 2012.  He is currently enrolled at University of the Cumberlands as he works toward a superintendent certification.
