Darren Doyle, story and photos A two vehicle, head on collision sent two people to the hospital this morning around 7:30am. Emergency personnel were called to the 1700 block of Noah Bledsoe Road in Chalybeate where officials said a 2005 Dodge Ram truck driven by Cody Meinhardt, (21) of Chalybeate collided with a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Miss Logan Evans, (19) also of Chalybeate. Authorities said that the hill-crested curve along with the narrow width of the road were contributing factors in the accident. Sheriff Shane Doyle said staying along the right hand side of roads such as this is imperative, especially in curves and hills. "These are dangerous conditions anyway," he said. "Drivers have to use extra caution on these narrow roads. There is literally no room for error. " Doyle said that both vehicles met in the center of the roadway, although it appeared that the point of impact was closer to Evan's side. This portion of Noah Bledsoe Road, like many other county roads, has no shoulder stripe or center line. The sheriff's office reported that both drivers were wearing their seat belts and multiple airbags were deployed in each vehicle.
Responding to the scene in addition to the Edmonson County Sheriff's office were both the Chalybeate and Brownsville Fire Departments, as well as Edmonson EMS. The driver of each vehicle was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for non-life threatening injuries.
