Make a difference in the Nolin River Lake Community by participating in the Eighth Annual Lakeshore Clean-up Campaign, Saturday, September 24th from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. This is an excellent family activity where you and your children will have a ‘hands on’ opportunity to be good stewards of our Public Lands.
The clean up campaign is designated an official National Public Lands Day Event. This year’s event is sponsored by The Friends of Nolin and coordinated in conjunction with The Corps of Engineers and Nolin River Lake State Park. When, Where, What to Bring: On Saturday, September 24th at 8:00 am to 10:00 am, stop by any of the following boat ramps to register: Dog Creek, Moutardier, State Park, and Wax and simply check in at the registration table. Groups such as Scout troops, church and school groups are highly encouraged to attend, but should call us at 270-286-4511 to preregister. Don’t forget to bring your own water and sunscreen. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. A pontoon boat will shuttle you to the shoreline where you will pick up trash. Prizes and Free Lunch! Afternoon activities start at 12:00 p.m. at the Wax picnic shelter. Free food and great prizes will be given away to participants, Sponsored by the Friends of Nolin. Make the Clean up Campaign your tradition and annual contribution to lake and The Friends of Nolin, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, accepting donations to fully support the costs of food, drinks, and prizes provided to the volunteers at the afternoon festivities. Please send donations for the lakeshore cleanup to “Friends of Nolin ”, P.O. Box 184 Clarkson, KY 42726. Your donations are tax deductible. Pontoon Boats & Volunteers Needed: WE NEED YOUR HELP. Pontoon boats are vital to this event, as they are required to shuttle volunteers and trash back and forth along the shoreline. As a token of appreciation, pontoon boat owners will be given a two nights free camping at any Nolin River Lake Corps of Engineers Campground. Tarps will be provided to line your boat for trash pick-up. Remember to have enough life jackets available for all passengers. If you do not have a pontoon, you can volunteer as a registration person or zone coordinator at one of the boat ramps.
