![]() Local police are investigating several recent burglaries in the county and request help from the public. Several days ago Sherryl Vanacker reported a Glock 19 9mm pistol stolen from her residence in Rocky Hill. The pistol featured a "muddy girl" camo pattern. Another firearm theft was reported in Sweeden by Derrick Childress. Police say a Beretta 92 9mm pistol with a black finish along with a New England Firearms 12GA Pump Shotgun was taken from Childress' residence. Police say that burglars easily gained entrance to the homes and warn homeowners to make sure all doors and windows are properly secured and locked at night or when not at home. It is presently unknown if the thefts are related. Sheriff Shane Doyle said that unfortunately the days of leaving our homes and cars unlocked are gone. "Keep your property secured at all times," he said. "Also, pay attention to anything suspicious in your communities. Deer and wildlife cameras are also a fairly inexpensive and efficient way to keep an eye on things when you can't." If you have any information regarding these burglaries, please contact 270-597-2729. EV Staff
