A serious accident happened today near the new Dollar General construction site at the junction of Highway 70 and 259 at Riverhill. According to police, an IMI concrete truck was parked on the construction site with the rear of the vehicle a few feet in the northbound lane of Highway 259. Jasper Woodcock, 86, traveling north, failed to see the rear of the truck in his lane and crashed his 2006 Nissan Murano into the concrete truck, trapping Woodcock inside. Two different sets of Jaws of Life were used to open the vehicle so that Mr. Woodcock could be removed. He was then flown by Air-Evac to a Skyline Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee where he remains in stable condition. The driver of the concrete was uninjured. The Brownsville Police Department was assisted by Brownsville Fire Department, Kyrock Fire Department, the Edmonson County Sheriff's Department, and the Edmonson County EMS.
