![]() Police credit the sweet tooth of two reported shoplifters as the reason for another DUI arrest. On Tuesday, Dec. 9th, Brownsville Police received a call of a reported shoplifter at Minit Mart in Brownsville. The suspect fled the store in what was described as a gold van. Officers located the van and stopped the vehicle on Veterans Way at the intersection of Beaver Dam Church Rd. Upon further investigation, the stolen items were recovered, which included approximately five pounds of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. This led to the arrest of Larry W. York of Glasgow. Police also found open alcoholic beverages inside the van. York was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs 1st offense, theft by unlawful taking/shoplifting under $500, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested was Jerry T. Pedigo of Glasgow. Pedigo was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs 1st offense, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and operating on a suspended operator’s license.
York and Pedigo were lodged in the Hart Co. Jail. Brownsville Police Officer Garth Avery was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police Trooper Chris Newkirk and Edmonson County Deputy Wally Ritter. Edmonson Voice Staff
