Just because they work hard don't mean they should be in this article. They put the things in the news that is most popular not who works hard. Sounds like you think everybody gets a trophy.

Sounds like she thinks everybody deserves a trophy? Whenever you are putting in just as many hours as basketball for a "unpopular" sport it gets very irritating at times. To sit and watch some "popular" sports be featured in nearly every article. You rarely see Archery, Golf, Band, etc featured on this page. But the all the page is filled of right now is basketball. You claim you're Edmonson county feed by pick and choose what you post.

I have to completely disagree with you Sheila. Those students work hard and they deserve the recognition for that. The reason the band isn’t “popular” is because of comments like yours. So what if it doesn’t fit your standard of “cool” like sports does, that doesn’t mean it deserves the disrespect you’ve dealt it. They support the football and basketball teams with so much enthusiasm, why can’t they get support from the community? Oh that’s right, because Sheila Matthews says it isn’t popular...

As a "band dad", I have seen the marching band setting drill on asphalt in 90 degree plus weather during band camp. When the other "sports teams either take practice inside or cancel it. I've seen these band kids practice and compete through injuries and illness, and witnessed a level of dedication to they're sport that goes above and beyond what can be expected. They compete in a class in which they are the underdog, but they never give up, always bringing they're best. If no one else gives them props....I will. It's an honor to be called a band dad, and see the hard work that these children put into they're chosen SPORT.

First off, I never said the band didn't work hard and I didn't say they weren't deserving of recognition. What I said was, the news puts things in there that most people read, thats all. Have you ever seen how many people go to a football game? prolly more than a 1000. and it's prolly the same with basketball. How many people go to a band concert? Not near that amount. I never said anything bad about the band I said one person thinks that just because someone works hard they should be in the voice and thats not how it works. do you see any fbla articles or pictures? Wood shop or welding? No, but its not because those kids arent deserving or cause they don't work hard. its because most people arent that interested as they are football or basketball.
