It was a proud moment for three ECHS senior athletes as they were honored Friday night at the girl/boy basketball doubleheader against Butler County.

Senior golfer Kayla Meredith was presented a plaque that highlighted her decorated golf career while playing for Edmonson County. In her 6 years on the team, her accomplishments included:
  • 1 KHSAA State Tournament Appearance
  • 2 All "A" State Tournament Appearances
  • Finishing a career best, 5th place overall in 2015 All "A" State Tournament
  • 2-time All "A" Regional runner up
  • 2-time 4th Region All-Tournament Team
  • 2015 Leachman-Buick-GMC KHSAA Scholarship Award
Kayla signed with Midway University in December on a golf scholarship.

Senior Basketball player and golfer Hunter Buttram was also recognized for his accomplishments with the golf program during his time at ECHS. His plaque was etched with the following honors:
  • 2-time KHSAA State Tournament appearances
  • 2014 KHSAA Regional Runner Up
  • 2013 KHSAA Regional Top 3 Qualifier
  • 2014 All Region Tournament Team and was low average scorer during his entire high school career

Also receiving recognition was Senior Forward for Edmonson County Basketball Austin "Cuban" Sowders. He was presented a special game ball from Head Basketball Coach Mike McClintic for joining the 1,000 point club at ECHS. He achieved the feat at Grayson County on January 8, 2016 where the Wildcats defeated the Cougars 58-55. Sowders scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the game.
