Edmonson Voice Staff Three ECHS students were injured today in a car fire incident involving Axe Body Spray. Emergency personnel were called out to Minit Mart in Brownsville today, shortly after students were dismissed from school. Police said three teens, one age 18 and two juveniles, whose names were not released, told police that they were spraying the body spray on each other inside a Ford Taurus when one of the boys lit a cigarette. Police reported that the teens told them the fumes from the spray ignited and the boys were badly burned. According to police, one of the teens suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his arms and had to be flown to Nashville via Air-Evac. The other teens suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns and were transported to the Medical Center via Edmonson EMS. Police also said that the vehicle sustained extensive damage from the fire, with the headliner and seats taking the brunt of the flames. They also reported that many personal items inside were burned as well.
Updates on the teens' conditions were not available. The incident is still under investigation. Responding to the scene were Brownsville Police, Edmonson EMS, Air-Evac, and Brownsville Fire Department. Comments are closed.
