Edmonson Voice Staff Emergency personnel were called out to the 1300 block of Chalybeate Road on Saturday at a two car collision where a Nissan Altima crossed paths with a Toyota pickup around 4:30PM. Officials said Myron Oneal Rice 36, of Lindseyville was headed south on 101 when he stopped to turn left into a residential driveway. It was reported that he didn't see the oncoming truck, a tan Toyota Tacoma, driven by McNeil Vanmeter, 74, Bee Spring, that was headed north. The pickup struck the car in the rear passenger quarter panel of the Altima. The Altima was also carrying a passenger, Erica Meredith, 31, also of Lindseyville, as well as her two daughters, both juveniles. Although both vehicles sustained considerable damage, there were no injuries reported other than minor cuts and bruises. Both parties refused medical treatment.
Officials said the use of seat belts and air bags greatly reduced the risk of injury. Responding to the scene was the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office, Edmonson EMS, and both Chalybeate and Brownsville Fire Departments.
