Catherine Louise Kenney, 94, of McLeansville, NC passed away Jan. 8, 2022 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC.
The Edmonson county native was a retired cook at Brownsville and South Edmonson Elementary Schools, a member of #279 Rocky Hill Order of Eastern Star and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James Louis Sanders and Lavada Ritter Sanders and the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Kenney. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cathy Johnson and Judy Johnson; a sister, Rheada Venners; and two brothers, Deward Sanders and Buel Sanders. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lambert Cemetery. Visitation will take place after 10:30 AM Thursday. Danny Allen Vincent, age 47, of Benson NC, passed away on January 7, 2022.
Danny was born on August 18th, 1974 in Jefferson County, KY to Gary Sr. and Dorothy Vincent. He attended Eastern Randolph High in Ramsur, NC and thrived with his business remodeling homes, painting, and floor work. Danny is survived by his only child Tyler Harvel of Franklinville NC; parents, Gary Sr. and Dorothy Vincent of Franklinville NC, brother Gary Jr. and wife Karissa Vincent of Murrells Inlet S.C. Reva Nell Brown, age 83, of Glasgow, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Glasgow. The Mud Lick, KY native was born on March 30, 1938 to the late Tommy Winfield Brown and Lee Edna Miller Brown.
Reva was born with shortened arms which, with effort, can grip no more than a piece of paper. She learned to complete day-to-day functions with her feet. Reva began to draw cartoons, then progressing into landscape, animals and religious works. One of the highlights of Reva’s life was being a member of the Mouth and Foot Paint Association since 1982. She also attended Glenview Drive First Church of God. Reva is survived by her nephew, Rondal Rex Brown; niece, Cornetta Hurt; great-nephew, Ken McKenney (Leslie) and great-niece, Lisa Ann Houchens (Paul). The devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born Oct. 24, 1943 in Louisville. At the age of 14, she married the love of her life and lived the rest of her life in Edmonson County. At the age of 17, she was saved in a revival held by Bro. Lawrence Vincent and became a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Clark. Cindy worked as a floral designer for Madison’s Flowers for over thirty-five years. She was a member of Poplar Spring United Baptist Church, and most recently attended Boiling Springs Church of Christ. Cindy had a pure, servant’s heart. She saw the best qualities in everyone, and loved to volunteer her time to help with the DAV Auxiliary, Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department, Edmonson County Rescue Squad and to the Kentucky Emergency Management. Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory— her children, Chip Lee of Brownsville, Tiffany Lindsey (Faron) and T.J. The Edmonson County native enjoyed fishing, riding his moped, yard sales and drawing and coloring pictures to give to others. He was a son of the late Ewing Stoy Lashley and Lucy Helen Lindsey Moore of Grassland, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Lashley; a sister, Holly Raymer; and two nieces, Amy Lashley and Carla Davis. Zachary Dale Cottongim, 29, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2021, while selflessly performing his duties as a Louisville Metro Police Officer.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patsy and Johnny Shillito, and Betty and Wayne Maggard; and mother-in-law, Kellie McKenzie. Zach graduated from Edmonson County High School, and went on to receive his degree in Criminal Justice from Daymar College. He was a seven year veteran of the Louisville Metro Police Department, and was assigned to the 1st Division. His dad, Dale, is also an LMPD officer, and Zach was so proud to have followed in his dad's footsteps in becoming an officer, fulfilling his dream. Zach also proudly served as a PTO (Probationary Training Officer), and aspired to someday work as an LMPD traffic officer. He loved the teamwork within 1st Division, its command staff, and his patrols with his best friend, Shaun Sargent. He was a “tech nerd”, enjoyed fishing, and loved playing with his sons. She enjoyed making quilts, searching yard sales or thrift stores for that perfect buy, Kentucky basketball and above all else, spending time with her family and friends. Pearl's entire world revolved around her great-grandchildren. Her smile would light up a room when she saw one of her precious angels. Kenny was a forklift operator for Bluegrass Supply Chain. He was a 2003 graduate of Barren County High School, an avid video game player and attended Life Fellowship Church. Kenny loved animals, Deadpool, The Flash and spending time with his family. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves to honor his memory— son, Kenneth Ray of Bowling Green; brother, Dennis Ray (Jennifer) of Eighty Eight; sister, Beverly Ray (Mike) of Horse Cave and several uncles, aunts and cousins. The Edmonson County native was a retired seamstress, as well as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She was a daughter of the late Claudius Robert Woosley and Glida Elizabeth Tomes Woosley and the wife of the late Kelly Luttrell. She was preceded in death by a sister, June Dwyer and another infant sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was a member and custodian, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place 4-8 PM Wednesday and 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home. Surviving are a daughter, Renee Slaughter of Big Reedy; two sons, Wes Slaughter (Gloria) and Ruston Slaughter both of Big Reedy; a step daughter, Terry Cosby (Steve) of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Whitney Lewis (James), Riley Slaughter and Sophia Slaughter; a great grandchild, River Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert Earl Gipson, age 73 of LaGrange, departed this life on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital in LaGrange. The Edmonson County native was born on December 17, 1947 to the late Walter and Lillie Elmore Gipson. He was married to Charlotte Marie Fields Gipson, who preceded him in death.
Robert was a truck driver with Teamsters Union Local #89, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a son of the late Harold Wayne Hogan and Georgia Strode Carter. He was an employee of Hill Motley Lumber Company. Jimmy enjoyed all kind of sports and music. He enjoyed playing his guitar. His survivors include his wife Laura Hogan; two children, Stephen Hogan (Sherry) and Jessica Hogan (Craig Childress), Brantley Wetherington (Amanda) and Bryan Wetherington (Morgan); five grandchildren, Hannah Hogan, Alexander Hogan, Colin Hogan, Brooklynn Wilson and Cayleb Childress; one sister, Penny Harper (Robert); one brother, Steven Tolle and several nieces and nephews.
