Friends of the Travis Seabolt family have organized a benefit auction for Saturday, October 2, 2021. Travis Seabolt passed away unexpectedly in July. He was the sole provider for his family. He left behind his wife Amberly and two sons Aiden and Tayton. To help with expenses, there will be a benefit and silent auction for the Seabolt family on Saturday, October 2nd at 10 am. The Edmonson County Board of Education/Bus Garage is now accepting applications for the following position(s): Maintenance Worker. This job is 8 hours per day Monday-Friday. Beginning compensation will be $14.14 per hour with increment raises according to years’ experience. This posting will has a 260 day contract with 3 personal days, 12 sick days and 10 vacation days, however, due to timing of hire date these days will be prorated for this school year. This position also provides full insurance benefits. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and will be asked to obtain a CDL. Experience in electrical and maintenance work is preferred. In their first KMEA sanctioned competition since the start of the pandemic, the Wildcat Band took the field on Saturday at Rhea Stadium in Russellville for the Show of Bands. Under the direction of drum major Allison Roof, the Wildcat band marched away with best color guard, best percussion, and overall 1st place in class A. The band will take the field next Saturday for a double header, where they will travel to the Warren East Raider invitational at 9:30 am, then later at the Warren Central Dragon Classic starting at 5pm. The Scouts continue to seek adventure. Within the past year the Scouts have been canoeing in the Northern Woods of Minnesota, White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River, Horseback riding through Mammoth Cave National Park, and sailing off the Florida Keys. The UK Cooperative Extension Service will offer a program for New and Beginning Farmers starting October 26, 2021. The Farming Basics for Success program will be offered in 4, one hour sessions, delivered virtually via the Zoom teleconference system. The sessions will be on the following dates: Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, and Nov. 16. Each session will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will last one hour. There will be time for questions and interaction after each session. The topics covered will help beginning farmers get their farming operation off on the right foot. They will include: available resources, items needed to get started, enterprises to consider, taxation and legal considerations, and basic equipment needs for your farm. Participants will be provided several resources to help them be successful. Registration is required and will be done via the zoom platform.
