The Edmonson County Fiscal Court is presently accepting applications for the Edmonson County Road Department. We are hiring for full time positions. Requirements include a valid driver’s license, to pass a D.O.T drug test and the ability to secure a Class B CDL within 6 months.
Work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. Starting pay is $14.00/hr., and $15.00/hr. with a CDL Class A or B.

Friends of the Travis Seabolt family have organized a benefit auction for Saturday, October 2, 2021.
Travis Seabolt passed away unexpectedly in July. He was the sole provider for his family. He left behind his wife Amberly and two sons Aiden and Tayton. To help with expenses, there will be a benefit and silent auction for the Seabolt family on Saturday, October 2nd at 10 am. The event will be held at 196 New Grove Rd Smiths Grove KY 42171, at the red barn behind the Byrd Center in Chalybeate.
There will be BBQ, desserts, a bounce house with a slide, face painting, and a silent auction. An event page has been created by Shannon McCoy on Facebook. If anyone would like to donate items for the silent auction or money for the benefit, they can contact Shannon McCoy or Maegan Hance on Facebook.
A sneak peak of the items in the silent auction will be posted on the event page throughout the week. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
All proceeds will go to the Seabolt family to help with bills and expenses.
The Edmonson County Board of Education/Bus Garage is now accepting applications for the following position(s): Maintenance Worker.
This job is 8 hours per day Monday-Friday. Beginning compensation will be $14.14 per hour with increment raises according to years’ experience. This posting will has a 260 day contract with 3 personal days, 12 sick days and 10 vacation days, however, due to timing of hire date these days will be prorated for this school year. This position also provides full insurance benefits.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and will be asked to obtain a CDL. Experience in electrical and maintenance work is preferred.

Wildcat Band Takes Top Honors
In their first KMEA sanctioned competition since the start of the pandemic, the Wildcat Band took the field on Saturday at Rhea Stadium in Russellville for the Show of Bands. Under the direction of drum major Allison Roof, the Wildcat band marched away with best color guard, best percussion, and overall 1st place in class A.
The band will take the field next Saturday for a double header, where they will travel to the Warren East Raider invitational at 9:30 am, then later at the Warren Central Dragon Classic starting at 5pm.
"The Wildcat Band would love to see you there," said ECHS Band Director Eric Stuart.

Scouts BSA, Troop 597 (male) and Troop 114 (female) units will have a sign-up night on September 27, 2021 at the Edmonson County Lion’s Club (1 Fairgounds Road, Brownsville, Kentucky).
The Scouts continue to seek adventure. Within the past year the Scouts have been canoeing in the Northern Woods of Minnesota, White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River, Horseback riding through Mammoth Cave National Park, and sailing off the Florida Keys.
Scouts BSA is for any youth 10.5 years old to youth 18 years of age. Join the Scouts on September 27, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to see what adventure may await your youth.

The family of Ronnie Len Houchin would like to extend our deepest thanks to you all for your kindness during our greatest loss and sadness. We appreciate it more than words could ever express.
A huge thanks to everyone of our family and friends that rallied around Ronnie when he came home for his final days. We know he felt your presence, love, and all of your prayers. It meant the world to us to see everyone come together for our family. It will always be remembered. Your words have comforted us, your support has strengthened us, your love has sustained us, and most importantly your prayers have lifted us up. For that we are forever grateful for each and everyone of you. There are way too many people to thank individually, but please know your tokens of love, flowers, cards, food, and again most importantly your prayers did not go unnoticed.

Pleasant Grove-Miller Hill Missionary Baptist To Hold Benefit Yard Sale For Church Parking Lot Project

The UK Cooperative Extension Service will offer a program for New and Beginning Farmers starting October 26, 2021. The Farming Basics for Success program will be offered in 4, one hour sessions, delivered virtually via the Zoom teleconference system. The sessions will be on the following dates: Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, and Nov. 16. Each session will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will last one hour.
There will be time for questions and interaction after each session. The topics covered will help beginning farmers get their farming operation off on the right foot. They will include: available resources, items needed to get started, enterprises to consider, taxation and legal considerations, and basic equipment needs for your farm.
Participants will be provided several resources to help them be successful. Registration is required and will be done via the zoom platform. Participants will be able to join the sessions using a mobile device or their computer. For additional information contact the Edmonson County Extension Service Office.
