Edmonson Voice Staff Report:
A Smiths Grove woman is facing multiple charges after driving intoxicated through Brownsville on the rim of her car, according the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies said that they received a call around 11pm on Wednesday, May 30th regarding a car that ended up over the curb in front of the Bank of Edmonson County on Main Street. The caller said that the driver appeared to have overdosed on an unknown substance, but drove off with a flat tire, which eventually disintegrated in the street. Deputies said the driver, Lori Bogle, (46) of Smiths Grove, drove the car from the bank to the Brownsville Minit Mart on the rim of her car where deputies initiated contact in the parking lot. According to deputies, Bogle showed multiple signs of intoxication, failed multiple field sobriety tests, and blew a .152 in a breath test, nearly twice the legal limit to drive. Deputies said Bogle tried to flee on foot twice but was detained by law enforcement. Bogle reportedly had no idea she had been driving on a rim and not a tire. She was arrested and charged with Driving under the influence of alcohol, Disorderly conduct-2nd degree, and Resisting arrest. She was lodged in the Hart County Jail.

Several attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of A+ Family Healthcare on Tuesday May 29, 2018. During the ceremony Heather Parsley, APRN addressed the crowd, "I want to thank everyone for their support of the clinic and we are so thankful to everyone who came out today. Our goal is to offer complete family healthcare for ages two and over." Chamber board member Bob Kleier stated "We really need this in our community. Families can come here for care instead having to drive to Bowling Green. The Chamber is very happy to have this group here." While the clinic has been open and in full time operation for several months, Heather Parsley, the original manager of the clinic, will return to the staff the last week of June. Patients can check with the receptionist for her schedule. Heather, who is also the mother of Coleton Parsley, who is still recovering from a January sledding accident, said "It feels really good to be back home." She's been on a leave of absence during Coleton's recovery. "I've been feeling out of my routine for awhile and I'm happy to be back. Coleton is continuing to make progress, he will be attending therapy in Nashville three days a week, and he is also happy to be back home." A+ Family Healthcare Clinic is open Monday through Friday 8-5. The Clinic also announced that they now offer DOT physicals. Chamber Director Ronda Clemmons said she was very pleased with the turnout. "This has been a great day for the clinic and the Chamber. We are just so happy for them on this joyful day." Edmonson Voice Staff Report:

Bass fishing has been good this week. The fish are in post spawn and moving to their summer homes. Carolina rigs are a good technique to use. A 3/4 ounce weight is good for depths to 15 feet. Braid with a fluorocarbon leader is a good choice. Keep bait choices to your confidence baits and color choices to your confidence colors. Points are a good for finding post spawn bass. Bluegill fishing has been good using wax worms on a popeye jig under a float. White bass fishing is improving. Look for the bait to find the white bass. Crappie are moving to deep brush where they will remain for the summer. A few walleye are being caught on live bait rigs off gravel points. The lake is clear, at pool and in the low 80's. Wear your PFD and take the family fishing! I would like to take this time and opportunity to say THANK YOU!!! to all the voters and people of the Chalybeate and Wingfield communities that gave me the time and respect to come into your homes, yards, business, or wherever I got the opportunity to talk to you.

Nolin is at summer pool, in the low 80's and crystal clear. Bluegill are biting good on popeye jigs tipped with a wax worm. Look for overhanging trees and gravel banks in protected areas for big bluegill beds. Bass are in their post spawn transition period. Carolina rigs and deep crankbaits are catching better quality fish. Spots are on shaky heads with finesse worms. Melon/red, green pumpkin and red bug are good flavors. Rocky banks and bluffs are good areas to fish. White bass fishing is fair in the main lake. Spinners and jig/grub combinations are good. Look for schools of bait at the surface to find feeding white bass. Catfish are biting good on a variety of baits. Rocky banks and flats near drops are good areas to fish. Wear your PFD and boat safely this holiday weekend! Edmonson Voice Staff Report: Fifth grade students at the Edmonson County 5/6 Center celebrated their D.A.R.E. graduation at the end of school last week as the revived school program came to a close. Navy Veteran Eric Roscoe led the group with the pledge of allegiance and Sheriff Shane Doyle was featured as the guest speaker. Sheriff Doyle's speech encouraged students to make good choices, no matter the situation. Deputy Jordan Jones is the local instructor for the program who also led a demonstration with his K9 partner Tango. Officer Tango "attacked" Sheriff's Detective Wally Ritter in a simulated situation.
Student Emma Carpenter was the proud winner of a brand new BMX bike at the event, a prize that was sponsored by Josh Roney State Farm. There were also $25 and $50 VISA gift cards handed out to second and third place winners, sponsored by Kyle Culbreth. Brownsville PD, Judge Executive Wil Cannon, and several other faculty members and school officials attended the event. D.A.R.E. is an acronym for "Drug Abuse Resistance Education." Formerly taught by Kentucky State Police, the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office now oversees the program. Medals and certificates were distributed to those that completed this year's program. Brody Johnson, a 7th grade student from ECMS, was among the students honored today by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for their exceptional scores on the ACT or SAT. He was recognized at today's Grand Recognition Ceremony at Duke University’s Cameron Indoor Stadium. Brody recently achieved a composite score of 35 on the ACT exam. He is also a member of the ECMS Academic Team and was able to take the exam as a result of scoring in the top 95 percentile on the state standardized test. He scored perfect on more than one section of the exam, something only he and six other students out of more than 60,000 others were able to accomplish. Duke TIP’s 7th Grade Talent Search identifies students across the United States who have scored at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level standardized test. As part of the program, these academically talented students take above-level college-entrance exams to learn more about their abilities. Duke TIP then hosts annual recognition ceremonies to honor the seventh graders with remarkable ACT or SAT scores. Those with the highest scores are invited to the Grand Recognition Ceremony. Of 48,569 students who took the exams through Duke TIP—all of whom are in the 95th percentile of their grade level—only 2,611 were invited to the Grand Recognition Ceremony. Brody is the son of Brad and Jodi Johnson of Bee Spring. We would like to sincerely thank the Edmonson County High School Baseball Team and Booster Club for remembering those in need by collecting and donating a large amount of food to the Edmonson County Senior Food Pantry.
