Currently Nolin is nearing winter pool and falling fast. Surface temps are right around 50 degrees with the clarity being stained. Finding schools of shad is key to finding active fish. Flats, creek mouths and points are good places to start. Look for the birds feeding on shad that are struggling in the cold water. A jerkbait is good fished around 8 feet. A #7 shad rap in the craw pattern has been good on flats and mud banks. A ned rig is a good choice around docks. Try using an old school rubber jig and chunk on rock banks. Brown/orange is a good flavor with a green pumpkin chunk. You are most likely not going to get a lot of bites, but the bites are good! Wear your PFD and be aware of hypothermia.

Lake conditions are changing fast. Temperatures are in the high 50's to 60 degrees. Elevation is about 7 feet below summer pool and falling very fast. It's time to get those cold water crankbaits out. Crawfish are a food source for bass with the water falling. Rocky banks that are near deep water is a good place to find the fish. Rip rap also holds fish in the late fall and winter. Ten feet appears to be a good depth to find active bass. Balsa baits such as the Rapala DT series and Shad Rap are good choices. A model 6A Bomber has been good for years. A Wiggle Wart or Brad's Wriggler has been very reliable. Wear your PFD and be aware of hypothermia when on the water! submitted: Arthur "Tonn" Wilkerson and the former Ruby Wells were married in Chalybeate Springs, KY on November 27, 2018 by the late Rev. Dale & Kayla Cassidy, owners of Check’s Pool Room in Bowling Green held a fundraiser with silent auctions on Nov 9th at their facility which raised over $5,000 for Santa’s Helping Hands.
Dale is an Edmonson County native and graduate of ECHS with many family members in Edmonson County, according to SHH board member Mark Wardlow. "We would like to thank Dale & Kayla and all the friends of Check’s who donated items and attended the fund raising event," Wardlow said. "This is the 5th year Dale and Kayla have put this fundraiser on and have donated over $20,000 to SHH during this time. It’s people like this that make our little charity what it is." Local Students Get Bill Passed In Mock Legislative Process Twenty-six students from Edmonson County High School attended YMCA’s flagship program, Kentucky Youth Assembly, in Louisville November 15th-17th. This program allows students to participate in a mock legislative process which includes writing a bill, presenting the bill to a student-led house of representatives, a student-led senate, and an elected governor if passed in both the house and the senate. ECHS students presented three bills for debate at this year’s conference. The first team consisted of Noah Parsley, Jarrett Prunty, and Evan Stice. This team passed by vote in both chambers and was signed by the student lieutenant governor. The second team consisted of Danyale Atwell, Macy Cassady, Josi Morrison, and Maham Shahbaz. Their bill was ranked highly on the opening day, passed one chamber, but was defeated in the second chamber. The third team consisted of Lauren Ballance, Madison Harrison, and Emma Rose Vincent. Their bill was also ranked highly on the first day of debate but wasn’t able to pass in chambers. All three teams worked hard and started preparation in August. On the final day of the conference during the closing awards ceremony, Premier Delegation recognition was given to the entire group, and Outstanding Delegate was awarded to Mollie Cassady.
Sponsors for this conference were Mrs. Corentha Cole, Mrs. Britney Franich, Mrs. Bridget Simon, and Mrs. Carol Stice. Edmonson Voice Staff Report:
Mammoth Cave National Park will host the 39th annual Cave Sing on Sunday, December 2, 2018. This year’s free event will feature the Lindsey Wilson College Singers who will present traditional holiday music a cappella within the cave at Rafinesque Hall. “The Lindsey Wilson College Singers have always been a favorite among park visitors and staff,” said Superintendent Barclay Trimble. “We are very happy they will once again join us for our traditional holiday celebration of music in the cave.” Besides holiday music the singers will perform “Children’s Earth Anthem,” a special song written by artist Louise Philips and artistic director, Charles Eversole, to celebrate the appreciation of nature in national parks. Ms. Phillips is also donating an original piece of artwork to the park which will be on display during the event. Cave Sing participants will depart for the Historic Entrance from behind the park visitor center at 2:00 pm. Participants should be prepared to walk up and down a steep hill, climb 160 steps, and dress in warm layers and comfortable shoes or boots. Even though the cave air stays at a constant 54 degrees Fahrenheit, wind chills in the entrance are much cooler. In addition to the free Cave Sing event, the Mammoth Cave will host several other opportunities for visitors to kick off the holiday season and celebrate the park. Beginning at 1:00 pm world renowned musician and former cave guide, Janet Bass Smith, will entertain guests with piano music in the Lodge at Mammoth Cave’s Rotunda Room. Dr. Smith will be joined by her son, Randall Smith, a professional saxophonist and retired music professor emeritus from Truman State University. Immediately after the Cave Sing event, the Lodge at Mammoth Cave will host complimentary refreshments for park guests in the lodge. Visitors will be encouraged to watch for Santa. The Friends of Mammoth Cave will hold their annual meeting at 3:30 p.m. at the Lodge at Mammoth Cave. The public is encouraged to stop by to learn about the work of the Friends to Protect-Connect-Inspire. Check out all the info below and download the application.

Nolin is currently around 4 feet above pool and falling about 6 inches per day. Surface temps are in the high 50's to 60 degrees. Fishing is a challenge. Bass can be taken with a #5 or #7 shad rap. An a-rig with speed shad swimbaits can be good. As the lake cools, a ned rig gets good bites off docks. Wear your PFD and be aware of hypothermia. |
