Chamber of Commerce Hosts Ribbon Cutting Samuel Warnell cuts the ceremonial ribbon at the grand opening of Warnell Family Pharmacy & Soda Shoppe with his wife, Valerie to his left, along with their kids, friends, and family. Darren Doyle, story and photos: Warnell Family Pharmacy & Soda Shoppe celebrated their grand opening today in Brownsville with a packed house and a special ribbon cutting from the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce. Owners Samuel and Valerie Warnell were busy today not only talking to customers, but also working in front and behind the counters of their new pharmacy which offers much more than prescription drugs. The Soda Shoppe offers all types of hot breakfast and lunch sandwiches, along with custom soda and ice cream creations. Samuel said having his own place has always been a dream of his and Valerie's, and that he wanted to provide not only competitive prescriptions and pharmaceuticals, but also old fashioned products and services that communities used to see years ago.
"We wanted to bring back the old school flare of soda fountains that used to be in pharmacies long ago," he said. "We've combined the two and we're happy to offer all the modern services that pharmacies have to offer, including vaccinations, sync packaging, all the things on the pharmacy side, along with including great foods like coffees, ice cream, all sorts of sandwiches, pastries, to-go orders, really a little bit of everything for everybody." The pharmacy is open from 10AM to 6PM daily with drive-through service, Monday through Friday, and 10AM to 2PM on Saturday. The Soda Shoppe is open 6AM to 6PM Monday through Friday and 8AM to 2PM on Saturday. Josh Casey, Vice President of the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce, said it's always a thrill to welcome a new business to the community. "As the last occupant of this building, I am awestruck by what they have accomplished and wish them nothing but success," he said. "The massive turnout today is indicative of the esteem the Warnell family name enjoys here in Edmonson County, and hopefully many years of future success." Warnell Family Pharmacy & Soda Shoppe is located at 675 S. Main, Brownsville, KY, 42210 and can be reached at 270-975-3784. Samuel said that many technology-based solutions are available at warnellpharmacy.com, where food orders will soon be available, along with pharmacy needs, and you can find them on Facebook by clicking here.

Warnell Family Pharmacy, located on South Main Street, has invited the community out to their big event. "Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe is the dream and vision of local pharmacist, Samuel Warnell, and his wife, Valerie," said the Chamber in a spotlight feature. "Drawing from their deep, local roots and the heritage and history of their faith, county, and profession, this new take on the beloved drug store soda fountain days offers a unique, family friendly environment for hungry patrons, as well as a health and pharmacy home where all are cared for and treated like family." The statement went on to say:
"Growing up in the Mohawk community, Samuel fostered a deep love for the local area and its people. His desire has always been to help his friends and neighbors here in the Edmonson County area. Upon graduation from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 2012, he has spent the last decade serving patients in our local community. After much prayer and planning, he and Valerie felt it was time to continue serving in a greater way. With the support, excitement, and hard work of their five children, family, and friends, Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe was born!" "Healthcare and Pharmacy are constantly changing. The Warnells are committed to improving the lives of their patients in more ways than filling prescriptions. They feel it is vital that medicine and healthcare are transparent, accessible, and affordable for every person in our area. They will be offering a line of services that fulfill the needs of patients both in-store and virtually, while striving to restore the compassion and personal touch that has faded from healthcare in recent years. They look forward to serving the pharmacy and medical needs of the community, all while filling bellies and putting smiles on each face that visits Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe!" You can visit the pharmacy Facebook Page here. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 12pm on Monday. An increase of traffic through Smiths Grove over the past few years is expected to grow even more once the new Buc-ee's travel center is completed. Transportation officials have scheduled a public meeting for a planning study along South Main Street (KY 101) between the Interstate 65 interchange and Brown Street in Warren County. The purpose of the Smiths Grove Traffic Operations Study is to analyze existing and expected future conditions within the study area. The study will also identify concerns within the transportation network and develop preliminary improvement concepts. The purpose of the meeting is to collect input from local officials, stakeholders, and the public. The meeting will take place Thursday, July 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Smiths Grove Fire Station. The meeting location address is listed at the end of this release. Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet along with consultant representatives will be available to share information, present preliminary improvement concepts, and answer questions. Input collected from local officials, stakeholders, and the community will be an important part of the decision-making process. Entering and exiting food marts, restaurants, and travel centers are becoming more and more difficult, and with a railroad crossing in the vicinity, traffic congestion occurs more often than ever. Safety is the primary concern along KY 101, along with alleviating congestion anticipated from future development. This portion of KY 101 carries a heavy mix of local and regional traffic as it connects Smiths Grove and Scottsville with I-65. It not only serves as a connection for these cities, but also provides access to numerous existing businesses. Angle, rear-end, sideswipe, and opposing-left-turn collisions make up a majority of the crashes along the study area portion of KY 101 - crash types that are typically attributed to issues related to access. Without improvement, the frequency of these types of crashes is expected to increase as traffic from future development increases. The meeting is set for Thursday, July 27th from 5pm to 7pm at the Smiths Grove Fire Department, 120 S. Main St, Smiths Grove, KY. ![]() 0-6 month girl winners from L-R: Saylem Jane Oller, daughter of Austin and Taylor Oller. (Best Dressed); Meredith Kyle, daughter of Maddie and Will Kyle.
