Darren Doyle, story:
Kyrock Volunteer Fire Department received a grant for 90 cases of water from Anheuser Busch, which was delivered at the firehouse today.
Fire department members were on hand with Anheuser Busch personnel today as the water was delivered into the firehouse.
Mike Clubb, second assistant chief at Kyrock, said he applied for the grant in the spring of this year and they recently discovered they would be awarded the grant.
The water is canned, which Clubb and other members say is better than bottled water for firefighters.
"Plastic bottles absorb smoke and fumes over time," he said. "If we keep bottled water on our trucks, you can taste fumes in the water. Sometimes it seems like you're drinking gasoline. The cans protect the water from the elements."
The grants were through a partnership with Anheuser Busch and the National Volunteer Fire Council, and were given nationwide.
