Moriah Peterson, story and photos ([email protected]) : This year’s "Meet the Wildcats" event introduced all Edmonson County High School’s band members, cheerleaders and football players for 2017. The annual event raises money for the football team with the sale of concessions, t-shirts, and this year featured a silent auction for a cooler and thermos combo donated by Whayne’s Supply. The band also had a booth set up for fundraising which included t-shirts for only five dollars. “This a community effort to show support for our school organizations," said football booster president Brian Carey. "We encourage everyone to come out and support the teams. The more community involvement the better” Edmonson County High School football coach Nathan Smith said he believes that this event is a great team morale booster and he’s looking forward to a great year of football.
“During games, you don’t see the players faces much; this event gives everyone a good opportunity to put faces to numbers. There’s been a lot of updates at the stadium with the new track and lighting we encourage everyone to come out and see the improvements” said Coach Smith. Commenting on Friday night’s winning game, Coach Smith said there was a great atmosphere and even perfect weather. “I’m pretty pleased with everything that happened Friday night." The event emcee was Edmonson Voice football broadcaster Scott Lindsey. The Wildcats defeated Caverna at home 54-6 on Friday. Comments are closed.
