Edmonson Voice Staff Report:
Landstar System, Inc., a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation services, has recognized Terry Hill of Brownsville, Kentucky as a "One Million Mile Safe Driver." During his career with Landstar as an independent truck owner/operator, Hill has driven over one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident. Hill is one of 124 men and women who make up the 2016 Class of Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers recently honored at an awards ceremony held earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee, for their outstanding safety records and professionalism behind the wheel. On average it takes a business capacity owner (BCO) 10 years to travel a million miles, a distance that would take the typical car driver 67 years to complete. BCO is Landstar’s term for the independent truck owner-operators who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements. “Terry Hill is among the safest and most talented owner-operators in the industry. Brownsville should be very proud of him and this outstanding accomplishment,” said Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni. In addition to the 124 Million Mile Safe Drivers, Landstar’s Class of 2016 honorees includes 11 new Two Million Mile Safe Drivers, and two new Three Million Milers. The new inductees bring the total number of active Landstar BCOs who have earned the title of Million Mile Safe Driver to 944.
