Grand Opening Of Sportsman's Grill Scheduled For This Week Darren Doyle, story and photos: Local businessman Josh Casey is just days away from opening the doors of Brownsville's newest restaurant, "Sportsman's Grill," which is located in the former Pizza-N-Paradise location on South Main Street. Casey is the owner of C&C Firearms, a popular gun and sporting goods store that first opened in 2012. So what do guns have to do with good food? Well, we're not exactly sure, but Josh is no stranger to either one, as he'll tell you. "I'm a fan of food, too," he said with a grin. "The idea of opening a new restaurant here in town all started with my desire for a new local place to eat. So instead of complaining about how Brownsville needs this or that, my opinion is that it's better to spend that energy trying to make a difference." Sportsman's Grill will feature classic American food, like burgers, sandwiches, and chicken, as well as items like fish-n-chips, fried green tomatoes, and Black Rifle Coffee, which is also sold at his sporting goods store across the street. The grill also offers a complete breakfast menu with all the classic favorites like pancakes, eggs and bacon, biscuits and gravy, and more. Hungry yet? We thought so... With the name, the decor and theme is much of what you'd expect, but certainly not over the top. Mounted deer, fish, and other wildlife are plentiful inside, and they go well with the tan and green color scheme, tile floor, and the corrugated metal and wooden accents. The black vinyl, diner-style booths are also a nice touch.
"I'm proud to be from a conservative area where people love the outdoors," Casey said. "This restaurant is a way to combine so many things that people in this area enjoy. People here love to fish and hunt, they're patriotic, they support law enforcement, and they love food, so why not bring them all together?" Not a hunter or fisher? Josh says that's ok, too. "We're a place that welcomes the whole family," he said. "We're confident our outdoorsmen will feel at home here, but so will mom, the kids, the grandparents, and anyone else. It's just a good 'ol southern, classic American restaurant in a small town." For now, Casey plans to split his time between running the gun store and overseeing the restaurant. Sportsman's Grill is scheduled to hold a community-wide ribbon cutting on Saturday, April 7th at 10:30am, which will also serve as their grand opening. The restaurant will officially open for business at 11am that day. Regular business hours will be Monday through Saturday, 6am to 8pm, closed on Sundays. The restaurant will provide full breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees. Visit their Facebook Page to stay updated on everything going on at the grill or give them a call, 270-597-1115.

Asking for clarification...In the article, it lists the phone number for the Sportsman's Grill as being 270-597-1115, but on their Facebook page it lists the number as 270-597-1005. Just wondering which is one is correct?

The correct number to the restaurant is as published in the article. The number listed on their FB page is the number to C&C Firearms, the working number until the restaurant officially opens on April 7th.

Its outdoor "flair", not "flare". Someone could get burned with outdoor flares.
