A Thank You From DAV #32: We especially want to thank Richie and Becky Jones, Stephanie Gipson (Brownsville City Council), The Edmonson County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Jordan Jones, Brownsville Police, Officer Dustin Harvey, Kyrock Fire Department, Chalybeate Fire Department, Brownsville Fire Department, The Edmonson Voice, as well as the many people not named who took part in the reception and welcome home. To Richard Jones and his wife, Delores, through their diligent expertise for putting together a trip for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) to go to Washington D.C. We had a great time and visited a lot of the historical sites while there. When we were on our way back to Brownsville, we received quite a surprise. As we neared the old JR Food store, a sheriff's car with running lights pulled out in front of us. We were all trying to figure out what was going on and as we neared Kyrock, the sheriff's car stopped and allowed several fire trucks and other police cars in front of him with their lights on, too. It was then we figured out that this was actually an escort back to the library and we were then greeted by a cheering crowd of well-wishers. There wasn't a dry eye on our bus! They escorted us to the library where they'd set up a reception with drinks and a cake decorated with all the different branches of military service. This really meant a lot to all of us, especially the Vietnam vets who really didn't receive such a warm welcome when they returned home from Vietnam. From all of us at DAV #32, thank you so much.
