Edmonson County Now Hiring Part Time Dog Control Officer

Edmonson County Fiscal Court is currently accepting applications for part time Dog Control Officer. Applications are due by April 5th, 2021.

Full Job Description-Dog Control Officer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Explains procedures, laws, codes and ordinances, and provides information to the public
  • Investigates complaints
  • Captures and impounds dogs
  • Lifts and carries equipment
Examples of Duties
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
  • Retrieves information, generates routine daily reports
  • Transports dogs
  • Receives and transmits codes, messages and information by two-way radio
  • Investigates complaints from the public concerning unrestrained, unlicensed, uncontrolled, abandoned, dangerous, nuisance, injured or sick dogs and collects evidence including witness statements, photographs, and other pertinent information
  • Captures and impounds animals with a catch pole, leash, trap, food, other equipment or other technique or method
  • Communicates with and explains to pet owners the animal control operations, procedures, laws, fees and services, traps, pet owner responsibilities, and general care of animals
  • Refers the public to other governmental agencies for services and assistance
  • Secures dogs in kennel on mobile unit transports them to the center facility
  • Prepares investigative and other reports, compiles evidence should legal action be taken and testifies in court
  • Cleans and disinfects kennel cages, pens, and transport units using water hose, floor brush and chemicals
  • Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
