The Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department has obtained 50 smoke alarms through a community program with the alarm manufacturing company, Kidde. Any resident in the Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department district that is interested in having a smoke alarm installed in their home free of charge, needs to contact Daniel Johnson, Fire Chief at 270-597-7350.
Due to the limited supply, these smoke alarms are available on a first come, first served basis. Also due to guidelines established by Kidde, the smoke alarms must be installed by a member of the Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department.
"It's a good thing any time we can help promote safety and use another tool to help prevent fires," Chief Johnson said. "We really appreciate the Kidde company for their generous donation."
