Kyrock Elementary and friends have collected 2330 ounces, or just over 145 pounds of aluminum can pull tabs since last November. School officials said the tabs will be recycled and the funds will go the Nashville Ronald McDonald House and Family Room.
Each year, schools across the country join forces to help Ronald McDonald facilities and Kyrock was one of 59 schools throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama that collected for Nashville.
"Kyrock students proudly contribute to this charity for hospitalized children and their families," the school said. "The community is asked to also collect and leave pull tabs at the school office. Volunteers will package and weigh donations throughout the year for next year's pull tab challenge."
