Lauren Richards Named Edmonson County Winner in the 2015 Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest5/20/2016 Edmonson Voice Staff Barbara Johnson, contributor Lauren Richards was named the Edmonson County winner in the Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest. Produced as a partnership between Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts, the contest was themed; “The Wild Side of Kentucky." Students in grades K-12 used the wildlife theme to create 47,082 art entries. Judges from Edmonson County Conservation District, Edmonson County Cooperative Extension Office, Edmonson County Fiscal Court, and Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office chose school and county winners whose entries then moved onto the state-level competition. A distinguished panel of judges with diverse environmental backgrounds selected statewide winners in both writing and art categories on January 26, 2016. State, area and county winners will receive a check sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau. The top three students in each elementary school received a plaque, a certificate and a medallion from Edmonson County Conservation District to commemorate their wins.
