Stuff The Bus has formally filed and been granted 501(c)3 Nonprofit status, according to a statement from the foundation directors. "With gratitude to our community, and businesses who have helped support Stuff The Bus, we are excited that after 12 years of hard work and great volunteer efforts, we are now and furthermore known as the Stuff The Bus of Southern Kentucky Foundation, Inc.," said the group in a written statement. The group says the nonprofit status will allow many opportunities for Stuff The Bus to broaden its effectiveness in Southern Kentucky and reach more and more children and families in need. "Our mission will remain the same; to work with private, public and corporate donors to increase awareness and funding for the event “Stuff The Bus” and other events. The goal is to provide an equal playing field for all children by giving them the essential supplies to learn on a day-to-day basis." Foundation director and organization co-founder Tony Rose said "In the past 12 years, we have seen this event grow into something we could never imagine. The way this community has embraced this event and the mission behind it to make sure that every child starts the school year on an equal playing field continues to humble us with the incredible generosity." Receiving this non-profit official status will allow us to continue to grow and reach additional funding and partnerships to help even more children, families, teachers, and family resource centers that are in dire need." Look for the annual Stuff The Bus school supply drive in front of Bluegrass Cellular on Campbell Lane the 3rd weekend in July every year!
