Local Second Grader Wins $1000 Scholarship in Kids' Fishing Tournament

(L) Scott Peavey, a tournament official with King Kat, poses with Abigail Vincent where she recently won a $1000 scholarship at a kids' fishing event.

Edmonson Voice Report:
Miss Abigail Vincent of Chalybeate, was a winner of a $1000 scholarship on Saturday, May 4th at the King Kat kids' fishing tournament in Owensboro.

King Kat is a national tournament circuit that also offers special tournament events just for kids. Saturday's event was held at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro.

After her parents, Cody and Emily Vincent saw a flyer promoting the event, the family decided to take the trip up the road for a little fun. Despite the fact that Abigail wasn't able to land the big one, the event drew three names out of 215 participants for the scholarship, where Abigail was named as one of the winners.

The scholarship is good at any college or trade program of her choice, when the time comes, and she also received her own rod and reel.

She is a second grade student at South Edmonson Elementary in Mrs. Emily Cassady's class.
