Bass fishing has been fair over the last few days. Topwater baits have been productive early and late in the day. A pop-r and buzzbait have been consistent producers. Try fishing a larger plastic worm than you typically do in the summer. A Zoom magnum or ole monster are two favorites. Green pumpkin or plum are good flavors. Fish 15 to 20 feet on points and steep banks. White bass are chasing shad early and late in the day. A 3/8 ounce spinner is a good bait of choice. Keep your distance from fish feeding on the surface. Crappie appear to be on brush around 15 feet deep. Jigs and minnows are good bait choices. The lake is about 2 feet above pool and rising fast due to the recent heavy rain. Surface temps are in the mid 80's. Fluctuating water levels can be tough to fish. Rising water tends to push fish up shallow near the shore and falling water pulls them off the banks. Adjust your game plan accordingly. Kids Camp is going on now through July 23 at your Cabelas in Bowling Green.
