Edmonson Voice Staff Report: The first annual Santa's Secret Hands Golf Scramble sponsored by Alford's Pharmacy was held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Shady Hollow Golf Course. Over $7,000 was raised during the event, which exceeded expectations from the organization. The tournament featured 28 teams while carrying 25 hole sponsors. "We were shocked by the turnout of teams and donations," said Mark Wardlow, SSH Coordinator. The first place team with a score of -20 was made up of Brad Johnson, Scott Chapman, Nathan Oliver and Tyler Earnhardt who all received $100 Rafferty's gift certificates. Second place honors with a score of -19 consisted of Stanley Ramsey, J.R. Cook, Rick Brown and Mike Taylor who all received $75 Rafferty's gift certificates. A close third place team with a score of 18 under par was Wayne Cox, Brad Pence, Gary Sallee, and Greg Brown who all received $50 Rafferty's gift certificates. There was a $10,000 prize offered for anyone hitting a hole-in-one on number eight hole, which was sponsored by Curneal & Hignite Insurance agent Bob Kleier, but unfortunately no one was able to score the ace.
Closest to the pin winners were Tony Johnson, Tracy Meredith, and Terry Cornell and longest putt winner was Granville Meredith, all of which received $50 Rafferty's gift certificates. "We would like to thank Shady Hollow Golf Course, Alford's Pharmacy, & Rafferty's along with all the teams who showed up to play and our hole sponsors." said Wardlow. "This money will go a long way when the holiday seasons get here." Santa's Secret Hands is a group of volunteers that not only donate their time but financial support to help provide Christmas presents to families (children) who may not get anything at all for Christmas without community support. No one connected with the organization receives any type of compensation. One hundred percent of all proceeds go to help families in need at Christmas. The annual Santa's Secret Hands Benefit Auction has been scheduled for Saturday, November 4th at the Community Center. Comments are closed.
