by Greg Hudson
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, I had the honor of working with the Baseball and Softball board as they finished the first phase of building a new batting cage and repairing one that had been abandoned and in bad repair for almost 10 years. They started work at 7:00am and completed the first phase of work at about 3:15pm. The board members said they could not have completed the work without the help of the following businesses and volunteers:

Donors/Volunteers: Blugrass Materials, Edmonson County Road Dept., Kenny Hennion, Larry Coats, Bob Lich, Cam Lich
Baseball/Softball Board Members: Laura Thomas, Michael Meredith, Terry Alexander, Chad Clemmons, Carl Mills, Shawn McCombs, Stewart Lich.

Bluegrass Materials donated 35 tons of number 9 gravel, which was delivered by the Edmonson County Road Department.  Kenny Hennion and Larry Coats donated their time and equipment to perform the work required to complete the first phase of the project. The second phase of the project will be completed this fall and the nets will be installed next March, just prior to practice starting.

This project was made possible only by the cooperation and partnership that has been established between the Baseball and Softball Board and the Parks and Recreation Department. I would like to thank the board for following through on their commitment to make improvements that directly affect their program and also make our park more user friendly to the public.

The Parks and Recreation Department will continue to provide quality programs and form partnerships that will benefit all who use our parks. Our partnership with the Baseball and Softball Board is an example of what can be accomplished when we work together. Thank you again to the Baseball and Softball Board and all who donated or volunteered your time to this project. Job well done!

Sincerely,
The Parks and Recreation Department
