Darren Doyle, story and photos:
The gym at South Edmonson Elementary was nearly full on Monday night, December 9, 2019 as the Bulldog Choir, led by Mrs. Jessica Doyle, gave a stellar performance with a Christmas concert to parents, friends, and family in attendance.

The choir, which is in its second year, performed a collection of carols with new lyrics reflecting school related subjects. All the new lyrics were intended to invoke laughter and fun about an elementary school environment.

Several students were featured as soloists in the program, and the third and fourth graders performed as though they'd done it hundreds of times before.

"We're excited for this event here tonight," Principal Josh Long told the crowd. "This choir is one of the best things we've done here at South Edmonson."

Mrs. Jessica discussed how proud she was of the choir.

"They work hard, have fun, and love to sing," she said. "I think everyone who watched our show tonight could see that. I feel so blessed to get to do what I love with kids that I love every day."

The students also performed a medley of traditional Christmas carols with their original lyrics as the crowd was asked to join along.

The group is made of 18 3rd graders and 18 4th graders for 36-piece choir. Students served as tech and stage hands for the performance as well.
