Dreary, Cold Weather Is No Match For Fresh, Hot Food Darren Doyle, story and photos: Light, wet snow fell in Brownsville on Saturday morning April 7th, but it wasn't enough to keep folks away from attending the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting and grand opening of Brownsville's newest restaurant, Sportsman's Grill, owned by Josh Casey. A large crowd was hungry and ready to go as soon as the ribbon dropped from Casey's scissors earlier today. While they weren't officially open for business until 11am, the cook, kitchen, and waiting staff was running on all cylinders to take care of the customers that had filled the restaurant which was formerly Pizza-n-Paradise. "We were nervous that the weather would keep people away this morning, but we were so happy to see this crowd come out and support us today," said Casey. "As we said before, we want to provide another family-friendly option here in town and we're very excited to finally be open for business." Rhonda Clemmons, Chamber of Commerce Director, was pleased with the large turnout at the event.
"Just like Josh, we didn't know what the weather would hold, but it turns out that cold weather is no match for hot food," she said with a laugh. "We're so happy to see another business in Brownsville open and we're glad that so many members of the community attended today's ribbon cutting. We wish Josh and his staff nothing but success and we encourage everyone to support Sportsman's Grill." You can find out more by visiting the Sportsman's Grill Facebook Page by clicking here. Just had lunch with Josh and his crew, had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Meal was very good, hot, fresh and the fries are outstanding. I'll be back.
