![]() Laney Meredith, story and photo On Thursday, June 11, a golf tournament was held at Ben Hawes Golf Course in Owensboro, KY. The tournament is part of the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour which is a series held at courses throughout Kentucky that provides opportunities for boys and girls up to age 18 to compete with players from across the state. There were 34 boys and girls who participated in the event. Kayla Meredith, a 17 year old Senior at Edmonson County High School, was the overall winner in the division for girls age 16-18. Kayla’s win makes her eligible to compete in the tour championship tournament, which is to be held July 28-29th at the Big Spring/Harmony Hills Golf Course in Goshen, Kentucky, and also moves her to 7th place for Player of The Year. “Even though it was a pretty hot day with a large amount of water on the course, it was worth it in the end because now I get to play in the tour championship," Kayla said. "That’s one of the goals that I had set but I've set new ones for the upcoming golf matches as I represent Edmonson County.”
