Owensboro Catholic Advances Over Edmonson County 83-58 Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: A big second half from the Owensboro Catholic Aces doomed Edmonson County tonight as ECHS hosted the All A Region 3 Classic. Both teams traded punches early and despite hot shooting from Nick Clemmons and Dalton Decker, the Aces took a 19-13 lead after the first quarter and led 32-27 at the half. Catholic outscored Edmonson County by 12 more in the third and the game was out of reach midway through the fourth quarter as the Aces went on to win 83-58. "We played a good first half but then we came out the second and didn’t play with the same intensity of the first half," said Head Coach Mike McClintic. "I don’t know if we were satisfied or what but it’s just little things that seem to trouble us. Things like defensive breakdowns, not getting back in defensive transition, defensive rotations, rushing shots, and forcing shots."
Coach Mac said he was focused on getting his guys to play more as a team unit and not to worry about things outside the team's control. "I consider these boys family to me," he said. "They're like my sons." The Wildcats were paced by Mason Pierce's 16 points. Dalton Decker added 12, Chaz Wilson had 10, Gavin Rose had 6, Nick Clemmons had 5, Eli Booker added 4, Trent Taylor had 3, Daniel Woosley had 2, and Isaiah Johnson also had 2. Edmonson County is now 3-10 on the season and won't play again until Friday, January 10 at Trinity.
