Cats Fall To Green County 74-73 Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: Dalton Decker poured in 32 points for Edmonson County tonight against Green County in a 74-73 loss at ECHS tonight in the Raffery's Double Dogs Caveland Classic. It was the second night in a row that Decker scored more than 30 points after his 39-point effort last night in a double overtime loss against Metcalfe County. Green County found early success with their size advantage as they crashed the boards and overpowered in the paint with a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. In addition to their post play, the Dragons also hit 7 three-pointers on the night, including 6 from senior forward Braden Sluder. The Dragons took a 30-17 lead into the locker room at the half. Edmonson County got a basket closer in the third quarter but a big run in the fourth got the Cats within 2 on two different occasions. When Edmonson needed a rebound or a bucket, it seemed like it went the other way. Decker hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, but it was still a point shy as Edmonson County lost their third in a row, falling to 2-5 on the year.
In addition to Decker, Mason Pierce had 11, Gavin Rose had 11 off the bench, Trent Taylor added 7, Isaiah Johnson had 6, and Nick Clemmons and Chaz Wilson each had three. Edmonson County will take on Thomas Nelson on Saturday night at the final night of the classic following the Lady Cats who are scheduled to tip off at 5:30pm.
