Edmonson Voice Sports Laney Meredith photos The Lady Cats couldn't even get to double figures in the first half as they fell to the Barren County Lady Trojans for their 4th straight loss, 49-42 on Thursday night at home. The first quarter simply could've been considered low scoring with the Lady Cats trailing 10-6, but Barren County opened it up with a 23-9 lead at halftime with forcing Lady Cat turnovers that led to scoring opportunities. Things actually got worse in the third quarter as the Lady Cats were only able to muster up one free throw as the Barren County lead grew to 32-10. The Lady Cats were able to turn things around in the fourth quarter as they rallied with a huge 32 point outburst, unfortunately they had already dug a hole too deep and couldn't overcome the deficit.
Leading the way for Edmonson County was Caitlin Simon with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Peyton Martin was the only other Lady Cat in double figures with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 steals. Other scorers included Jhonna Basil with 9 points, Rachael Duncan had 7, Madelyn Taylor with 3, and Tori Browning scored 2. The Lady Cats are scheduled to play in the ESB Ladies Showcase at Glasgow where they'll take on Hopkins County Central Saturday, Dec 19th, at 1:30pm. The next Lady Cats live broadcast will be during the Caveland Classic at home, Dec 28-30.
