It was a tough night for both the Lady Cats and Wildcats as both teams were defeated by Daviess County last night in Owensboro. The girls kicked things off with an up-and-down first quarter, falling behind 7-1 then going on an 11-0 run to take the lead 12-7. Daviess was able to climb back on top and ended the quarter with a Lady Panther half court shot at the buzzer and a 19-14 lead. The Lady Panthers were able to continue to stay just out of reach from the Lady Cats in the second as Edmonson County took a 30-21 deficit into the locker room at halftime. Daviess shot 9 of 17 from behind the three-point line in the first half as they only had one two-point basket at the break. The second half was much of the same as Edmonson County never could make up the points and Daviess County went on to win 61-49. Caitlin Simon led the way for the Lady Cats with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and one assist. Skylar Lewis scored 11 points while adding 6 rebounds and Peyton Martin added 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Also helping the effort was Maddie Cline with 6 and Katlin Collins added 2. The Lady Cats are 2-1 on the season and are scheduled to play Greenwood at home this Friday night at 6pm. Wildcats Drop To 0-3 With Loss To Panthers The Wildcats have yet to put a "W" in the scorebook as they fell 53-41 in a low scoring affair against the Panthers. Edmonson County led 16-13 after the first quarter and held on to a 24-23 lead at halftime. The third quarter was all Daviess County as they outscored the Wildcats 20-8 and grabbed a 43-32 lead going into the final quarter. The Wildcats got no closer than 6 points as they fell to the Panthers. The Wildcats were out-rebounded 21-13, something that's abnormal for Edmonson County. Iszic Blankenship led the Wildcats with 18 points and 4 rebounds. Caleb Skaggs was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 13, 9 of which that came from three pointers. Bailey Board had 4 points and 4 rebounds and Tucker Cole had two points and three assists. The Wildcats are scheduled to take on Greenwood in a girl/boy doubleheader this Friday at ECHS with girls action starting at 6pm.
