Lady Cats Launch Raid on Lady Raiders:
If you were looking for a tight ballgame against a district opponent last night, you were obviously disappointed. If it was a 40 point blowout you were looking for with the Lady Cats playing on cruise control, then you have reason to celebrate. It was never really a contest last night as the Lady Cats simply outmatched the Lady Raiders of Whitesville Trinity. ECHS started out strong, leading 25-10 after the first quarter, then after outscoring the Lady Raiders 19-6 in the second quarter, took a 28 point lead into the locker room at halftime. After three, the Lady Cats had increased the lead to 40, and it remained that way until the final buzzer sounded as the home team won easily, 67-27. The girls will travel to Logan County on Tuesday for a girl/boy doubleheader beginning at 6pm, Boys Team Defeats Whitesville Trinity The ECHS boys followed the big win of the Lady Cats by taking charge over the Raiders of Whitesville Trinity in a district match up. The Wildcats were led by Hunter Buttram with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The game began as a close contest, with the Cats leading 15-13 after the first. The Wildcats were able to hold their own while maintaining a 35-29 lead at halftime. ECHS sealed the deal with a 23-9 third quarter and never looked back. The Cats won 81-65. ECHS also saw solid performances from Devin Elmore (14pts 4 reb), Austin Sowders (12pts 6reb), and Chase Turley (10pts). Also contributing to the win was Cole Bedwell with 9pts, Trevor Norris with 8, and Iszic Blankenship added 7pts, 4 blocks, and 3 rebounds.
