Edmonson Voice Sports:
Edmonson County senior guard Dalton Decker's 39-point, double-double career high wasn't enough to put the Wildcats in the win column as they fell 93-86 to Metcalfe County in double overtime in their opener at the 2019 Rafferty's/Double Dogs Caveland Classic. Decker also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 5 assists in the back-and-forth marathon. Edmonson County also had two more in double figures as Mason Pierce put up 16 points and 6 rebounds and Nick Clemmons added 12 points. Junior Chaz Wilson barely missed being the fourth double figure player with 9 points. "We played catch up all game long," said Coach Mike McClintic. "Dalton had a heckuva game. We started out slow and had to catch up and it seems like we did that the whole game. Metcalfe County is a good team and they play a lot like us. They all work hard and know their roles." The Wildcats were down a starter as junior forward Daniel Woosley was out due to illness. He is also expected to be out tonight again vs. Green County. The Wildcats shot only 55% from the free throw line (11-20) compared to Metcalfe's 18-20 (90%). "That's the difference in the game right there," said Coach Mac. "But my guys didn't quit and everybody that got in the game contributed. Hopefully we can get some things done tonight against Green County." Edmonson County's girls and boys will both take on Green County in day two of the Caveland Classic beginning at 5:30 for the girls game. The boys will follow at 7:15.
