![]() Darren Doyle: Franklin Simpson High School has named former Edmonson County High School graduate and basketball player Cody Rich as head coach for their girls basketball program. Rich graduated from ECHS in 2010 and finished his masters from WKU in 2015. He is currently a science teacher at FSHS. David Clark, Assistant Athletic Director for the school said that they felt like Rich would be a good fit for the program because not only had he been a great volunteer coach for the successful boys program, he was also an excellent teacher. "We feel like he'll be a great fit here," said Clark. "He has a great basketball background and comes from a great family. This is a rebuilding time for our program and Cody wanted to be a part of it anyway, so that's a good sign." Rich said he was excited to have an opportunity with a school with such a deep tradition. "There have been many Division I athletes come from this program, so getting opportunity is both a blessing and exciting," he said. Rich's coaching experience started at Edmonson County Middle School, then he moved to Warren East to be a boys varsity assistant coach. From there he landed at Franklin Simpson as a boys assistant coach. "I wouldn't be here without God, my wife, my parents, family and friends," he said. "I want to focus on my players and be a players' coach. After all, I've had my time of playing and want to focus on them, helping them become better players, but most importantly, good people." Rich still resides in Edmonson County with his wife, Summer. He is the son of Phil and Valerie Rich of Bee Spring.
