Football is back in Edmonson County and hundreds of folks will be headed to Wildcat Stadium tonight for a long overdue view of "Friday night lights." The Wildcats will host the Caverna Colonels in tonight's match up and even though the Cats are a young team, Coach Kyle Pierce said he feels confident about his group of young men.
When asked what to expect from Caverna tonight, Coach Pierce said "Caverna will have some tremendous skill athletes. They're very fast and have the ability to make plays. They're also really big up front with a couple 300 pound guys." Since the Allen County scrimmage, Pierce said his team has been working hard at the fundamentals. "Blocking, tackling, creating take-aways defensively, and not turning the ball over offensively, are things we're trying to do," he said. He also wants his guys to be ready to take advantage of opportunities as they're presented and make the big plays when they matter. Tonight is also "Alumi Night," which honors and welcomes all ECHS Football Alumni. All former players are invited to the field house around 6:35 for a pre-game speech with the players. Kickoff is at 7pm with Wildcats Live game broadcast beginning at 6:40. Scott Lindsey and Bryan Thompson will have all your live play-by-play action on your only source for ECHS sports, EdmonsonVoice.com.
