The ECHS Lady Cats game out on top 74-60 against Cumberland County on Saturday on the strength of Brandi Lindsey, who scored 16 points.
ECHS came out strong, claiming a 40-15 lead at the half. With 24 points in the third quarter, Edmonson County added to their existing lead. Lindsey had a great game from the field, making 50% (11-for-22) of shots attempted as well as 50% (2-for-4) of threes attempted. She also shot well from the line, making 83% (5-for-6) of free throws attempted. She also had 12 assists, 5 deflections and 2 rebounds. Other scorers were Jhonna Basil 16 pts, Caitlin Simon 10 pts, Rachel Duncan 8 pts, Peyton Martin 6 pts, Madelyne Taylor 3 pts, Kaitlin Collins 2 pts. Edmonson County finished the game with 26 rebounds (7 offensive/ 19 defensive) and 8 steals. After the game, coach Ted Hill said, “We are doing a lot of things well, we just need to improve on the little things. We had 9 turnovers and we missed a lot of free throws. We need to work and improve these, but sitting at 3-0 looks pretty good.” The Lady Cats travel to Daviess County tomorrow night for a boy/girl doubleheader beginning at 6pm.
